Thursday - a day of restWe drove to a lovely little place, called Staithes I believe. It has a new part which isn't worth looking at unless you really are thinking of buying a house, and an old touristy part which is where we went. It has a famous restaurant called the Endeavour and we plan to go there next time we are in the area. We had a wander round the harbour which was very nice. But to get there they was a choice of huge stepping stones or a long walk round a big muddy puddle. No prizes for guessing which one of us took which route! That evening we played cards and I foolishly agreed that whoever won would pay for the meal the following evening. I believe that Stephen is in fact a card shark as he wasn't playing THAT well before the bet. |

Friday - catching crabsOur planned walk was curtailed due to a fire on the Moors. So we spent most of the day at Robin Hood Bay. We didn't find any interesting fossils so set out to find a crab. I found the first, but it was dead. It took a long time before Stephen found a live one. We also spent some tine looking around the wonderful gift shops, and watching the fire brigade try to put out the fires from the air. In the evening it was off to Greens for far too much to eat and (for me) to drink. Although I still claim that me falling over the railway sleeper when we got back was because the grass was wet not because of alcohol. |

Saturday - home sweet homeWith great sadness we said good bye to our little cottage and to Rosie and her stable mate Orlando (although we were looking forward to be reunited with our own cats) and headed off back home. For me it was even greater sadness as I knew that my month as a lady of leisure was nearly over and it was about time I found myself a job. I plan to eventually have a section devoted to my life in a petrol station but until then just remember to look at the pump number before you try to pay. Although if anyone can explain to me how I am suppose to know which pump you were at when the forecourt is packed then I shall be interested to hear… |
